Tour Overview
Uttarakhand is steeped in history and mythology, and this short tour is a good introduction to Hindu tradition through its two most visited towns. Haridwar is where the Ganga leaves the mountains and enters the plains; Rishikesh, 25 km up the valley, is the gateway for pilgrims heading on to Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Delhi
On arrival at Delhi airport or railway station, our driver meets you and transfers you to your hotel. The rest of the day is at your leisure. Overnight in Delhi.

Day 2: Sightseeing in Delhi
Old and New Delhi: the Red Fort, a rickshaw ride through Old Delhi's lanes, Gandhi Smriti, India Gate, the President's Palace, Humayun's Tomb, Qutub Minar and the Laxmi Narayan Temple, with an optional stop at Chandni Chowk's spice market. Overnight in Delhi.

Day 3: Drive to Haridwar
Morning drive of about 220 km to Haridwar, one of the holiest towns in India. Har Ki Pauri, the main ghat, is held to be the spot where the Ganga enters the plains, and its evening Ganga aarti draws pilgrims from across the country. Overnight in Haridwar.

Day 4: Haridwar to Rishikesh
Morning visits to the temples, ashrams and ghats of Haridwar, then the short transfer to Rishikesh. A half-day tour takes in the ashrams and the Ram Jhula and Lakshman Jhula suspension bridges, ending with the evening Ganga aarti at Parmarth Niketan. Overnight in Rishikesh.

Day 5: Rishikesh to Delhi
After breakfast, drive back to Delhi, with a drop at your hotel, the airport or the railway station. Tour ends.
