Santosh was our driver in India for 10 days. He drove us from Delhi to Agra from there to Ranthambhore where we saw a Bengal tiger, then to Jaipur and we finished in Udaipur. We arrived here from Delhi late after a long trip on crowded roads that are under perpetual construction. This beautifully renovated sultan's palace is in a location that isn't too far from the center of town. Although there was a glitch in our restaurant service the first night, it was rapidly corrected after I mentioned it to the restaurant manager. During other visits, the staff could not have been more competent, friendly, and attentive. The rooms were spotless and well-appointed. All staff is helpful and pleasant. We used the hotel as our base for a few days. Returning at night after a day filled with the fascinating attractions offered by Jaipur, I particularly enjoyed a cup of coffee after dinner while sitting on the patio just across the hall from the restaurant. Our driver in northern India, Santosh Kumar Tripathi (+91 9818813155) was well-versed in the area, suggesting additional ideas for things beyond what we had planned in our itinerary. I'm not referring to expensive 'extras', just neat, no-cost ideas like visiting a wedding in process and a local farm. These things helped us enjoy our trip as the more personal travel that we enjoy so much. When my wife's intermittently bad back started to bother her, he suggested a local health clinic where she got a massage. The hotel's grounds are beautifully maintained and perfect for a morning or evening stroll. I've not visited other hotels in Jaipur, but won't ever need to. I'll gladly return to the Jai Mahal Palace any time.s
